Marc Jacobs beauty products – ever tried them? I hadn’t before this, but obviously I’ve wanted to. Who wouldn’t?! When I got a survey about the possibility of a sample from Influenster, I was overjoyed and hoped it would be something really good. After I was chosen to receive a Marc Jacobs product, I found out it was the Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara. Mascara wouldn’t be my first choice of products to try if I’m being totally honest, but now is not the time to be picky. I mean, it’s still Marc Jacobs!

Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara
This mascara is said to add volume (by 1800%!) and lengthen lashes for a false lash look. It features a curvy brush that defines and separates each lash. Apparently, this lash-maximizing mascara was inspired by Marc’s mother.
What I look for…
My favorite kind of mascara simply adds lots of volume and a bit more length, without looking clumpy. I also like formulas that provide lift so that my lashes aren’t hanging low. If they’re not lifted, then the volume and length are almost pointless because my eyelashes won’t be very visible unless viewed from the side of my face. My lashes naturally curl and have decent length, but the extra lift helps a lot. If I find a mascara that does all of those things, then take my money and give me a lifetime supply!
My thoughts on this mascara…..
I’ve been using it daily ever since I received it in the mail. It does hit most of the major requirements I have for a mascara. It does add volume and length. It does keep my lashes separated and clump-free. Those are all major wins. I just wish it could add more lift and maybe some additional volume or definition. It doesn’t quite give me the false lash dramatic effect that I would like. I will say, adding a second coat helps a lot (and still no clumping!).
It wears nicely throughout the day. I don’t notice flaking or wearing off. Transferring to the lower lid is minimal if it happens at all. At the end of the day, it’s easy to remove with a makeup removing wipe or cleanser.
It’s not the mascara of my dreams, but still pretty good nonetheless! With it being a pricier mascara, I’m not sure if I’d put it into my rotation of fave mascaras. For a high end mascara to make it into the rotation, it has to blow me away!
