YSL lipsticks have been high on my list of products-to-try for a long time. The packaging is always gorgeous and I’ve heard that they’re luxuriously creamy. The only thing that kept me from purchasing was the steep price tag. I was given the chance to try two YSL lipsticks through Influenster and you better believe I jumped all over it.
YSL Rouge Pur Couture
The YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks provide rich color with intense hydration and are available in satin or matte finishes. The two I got are 19 Fuchsia and 09 Rose Stiletto.
19 Fuchsia is exactly what the name implies – a bright fuchsia color! It doesn’t show up too bright on me because my lips are on the dark side naturally. It’s a jewel-tone and I love it. It’s a fun, bold color if you pack it on, but you can also stay closer to your comfort zone if you don’t apply it with a heavy hand.
09 Rose Stiletto is spiced rosy brown that’s a mid-tone shade bordering on dark. It works great for me because of my tan complexion, but for someone on the paler side, it might look too dark to be an everyday color. This one could also be applied lightly for a more toned-down, wearable color. It’s a perfect fall hue.
Both lipsticks wear well. I kissed the back of my hand several times with both shades (for testing purposes!) and a little color came off, but most of it stayed on my lips. They apply creamy and opaque with one swipe across the lips. There’s just enough satiny shine to make your lips look hydrated and kissable. I would love to add a couple more lighter, natural colors to my lipstick stash from this line.
