Ipsy Glam Bag - January 2014

Purchased by me

Finally getting to my January Ipsy bag. I swear I’m going to get on track with posting my Ipsy bag reviews on time. Maybe this time I will and you’ll get to see two of my bags this month! January was a very busy month for me, which is also why I posted a little less than normal. Mainly, I started a few new projects that were very time consuming. One was cleaning out my office to fit my new vanity and makeup storage – read about it here!

So, January’s theme was “19 reasons”, meaning 19 reasons why 2014 will be amazing. I think 19 comes from the 19 brands that were being featured throughout the bags. In my bag, I got 5 of those brands.

What Came in My Bag

Elizabeth Mott Smooth Shadow
Creamy Eye Pencil – Pearl

This is a waterproof gel pencil that contains a little shimmer.  It can be used for top eyeliner, on the waterline, or for highlighting. The one that came in my bag was Pearl, which is a champagne shade (almost rose gold).  I found that it adds a glistening look to my eyes. It’s not very bold, which can be good or bad depending on the look you’re wanting. This is a great sample though – I’ll be able to use it quite a bit.

Epice Purifying Exfoliant

This is an exfoliant that cleans and hydrates skin. It can be used on face and body. The formula is also supposed to enhance skin texture. I used it on the back of my hand right away to test it out. My hand felt very soft and smooth afterward. I’m looking forward to trying on my face too. The sample size will allow for plenty of uses to determine if it works well for me.

MicaBeauty Tinted Lip Balm
#5 Natural

This tinted lip balm comes in a pot and provides a silky finish with sheer color that can be built up. I’m not always thrilled to stick my fingers in my lip products, but I happen to really like this balm, so I can overlook that part. The color I received, Natural, is a nude shade with a rosy tint. Totally a “my lips but better” shade. It feels silky on my lips and looks great. I’m not sure how this sample size compares to the full size, but it looks like there’s a lot here.

Proactiv+ Mark Fading Pads

These pads are pre-moistened with a salicylic acne treatment. You use the pad on clean skin at night and leave the treatment on your skin (no rinsing). It can reduce the appearance of enlarged pores and fade dark marks. I got 4 pads in my bag. I glanced at some reviews and they weren’t very positive. My problem with this product is that you don’t have to opportunity to buy the pads alone; they’re included in a kit. I’m just not really a fan of Proactiv, so I’m not sure I really even have an interest in trying this product.

Sexy Hair Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat
Leave-in Conditioner

This leave-in conditioner contains soy and cocoa. It moisturizes and reconstructs hair.  I love leave-in conditioners and I like the Healthy Sexy Hair line. This is a great travel size and I’ll be able to use for awhile. The scent is just light and fresh.

BONUS!
I was able to redeem something with my Ipsy points. I chose to get the Beauty Blender! I hadn’t had one before. I’m already in love with it. It came with a sample size of cleanser too.

Beauty Blender

Overall, I’m happy with my bag for January. I love the lip balm and the leave-in conditioner. The exfoliant and the eye pencil are pretty good too. I wasn’t so happy to get the Proactiv pads, but they don’t ruin the bag for me. I still think I got great samples. I’m excited to see what I get in this month’s bag!
