Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, NV – Weekend Getaway

Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, NV – Weekend Getaway

Donny and I recently took a little getaway trip to Reno, NV and stayed at Grand Sierra Resort. We haven’t been able to travel too much since most of our money has been going to paying off credit cards and building up our savings. Nonetheless, we wanted to reward ourselves with a mini vacation before Summer was over.

We stayed at Grand Sierra Resort, which we had heard nothing but good things about. Reviews boasted the resort to be trendy, hip, and fun. Some even went as far to say that they never even left the resort during their stay because it provided everything they needed, from food to entertainment and beyond.

As soon as we checked in, we were impressed. Aside from the huge gaming floor and plenty of food options, our room was better than expected. It was spacious and decorated with a modern vibe.

There were touches of luxury throughout the whole room. The mirror that hung next to the bed was massive with an ornate frame. The bar/kitchenette area provided a good-sized fridge and lots of storage. The bathroom was decked out in beautiful granite tile covering the walls, floor, and shower. These details elevated our experience, making it likely for us to consider another stay in the future.

Once settled in, we were able to talk a walk around the resort to discover the rest of the amenities. Of course, we stopped and played slots along the way – how could we resist?! We strolled out to the pool area to find Grease playing on a movie screen, fire pits, hot tubs, a bar, ample seating, and one huge pool. We weren’t able to spend too much time by the pool this time around, but next time, it’s necessary!

Walking back through the casino, we browsed all of the restaurant options. I couldn’t believe how many there were. We had our pick of almost every taste you could think of.  A few of them included a buffet,  steakhouse, a burger joint,  pizza place, a mexican restaurant, and so much more!

There was even more this resort provided that we didn’t get to experience. There was a spa offering a list of treatments and services, a 24-hour gym, a variety of stores to shop, a bowling center, driving range, movie theater, arcade, go karts, mini golf, and a nightclub. No wonder why some people spend their whole time at this resort! It’s a great place to bring the whole family because there is something for everyone.

We did happen to venture out just a little to check out the other casinos in the area, but I still would’ve been perfectly happy staying at the resort the whole time. By the end of our weekend, I was wishing we had more time to spend there. We were even pretty lucky playing the slots and walked away ahead. Reno was never much of a desirable vacation place for me, but now that I’ve found GSR, I wouldn’t mind visiting more often. Needless to say, I think we’ll definitely be back for another stay, no doubt about it.
