I have been hoarding my MAC empties for a loooong time. I kept forgetting to take them with me on trips to the mall. This time I planned ahead. I had twelve empty containers that qualified for the MAC recycling program, Back-2-MAC.
With Back-2-MAC you give 6 empty primary packaging containers and get one free lipstick. Since I had twelve eligible items, I was able to pick 2 free lipsticks. The first was a no-brainer: Angel. Angel is my favorite lipstick from MAC and I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in that pick. It’s is a popular pink frost lipstick.
My second pick was not as simple. I wanted to try a brighter, bolder color. I opted for Lickable but the counter I was at didn’t have any in stock, so I was pointed to a similar shade, Rebel. In the tube, Rebel looks like a dark vampy purple that I would totally shy away from. When applied, it looks more like a wearable burgundy. It can be applied in a sheer layer and built up for more intensity. If I dab it on my lips, it looks like I just ate a popsicle – a burgundy berry popsicle. It has a satin finish.
Yes, this was a fairly small haul. I wish I could just fill my arms with MAC goodies, but the best decision for me is to just pick a few items at a time. Luckily, the lipsticks were free, but even then, I paid over $30 (after tax) for the two shadows.
